IsshoCon is an annual anime and Japanese culture convention held in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Organized by Angelo Williams and Terry Alexander, the owners of Otaku Detroit—a small anime shop in Madison Heights—the event celebrates anime, cosplay, and various aspects of pop culture. With a strong focus on inclusivity as a black and queer-owned event, IsshoCon has grown significantly despite being only in its second year.
Before launching IsshoCon, the organizers hosted smaller, single-day conventions at a local middle school, building a foundation that led to the creation of this larger, community-focused event.
