Chīzu Con (cheez-oo kon) is a one-day annual cosplay and gaming convention held in Madison, Wisconsin. This event is held at the Goodman Community Center and was started officially in 2019. The convention’s branding and logo are a playful nod to Wisconsin as it features a melting block of cheese. Their cheezy identity is carried through with the official mascots, two cows named Brie and Colby.

This is a smaller event with a fun, hassle-free environment. It’s a friendly convention that feels very much like the conventions did before they became corporate and celebrity focused. This event is about the people celebrating what they enjoy and hanging out with old and new friends.

This was my first time being at Chizu Con, two things I instantly loved about the con were the badge and the program. The badge was cute, but the fact that they had a printed program endeared me to them. I am old school on some things. I like the ease of just pulling out a program to see a schedule and floor map. Too many cons have gone all digital which means that you have to pull out your phone (not always easy in cosplay) and wait for it to load. You are then at the mercy of the local wi-fi signal.
I also liked the fact that they had a quick easy roadmap right by the table as you walk in.
This is a fun little local convention spread across two fantastic buildings. Here are the cosplay photos from around the event, tomorrow I’ll have the costume contest photos.
