Chicago TARDIS is the Midwest’s largest gathering of Doctor Who fans that takes place every year the weekend after Thanksgiving. This year, it took place from November 28-30 at the Westin Chicago Lombard.
The convention always manages to arrange a number of well-known guests from the Doctor Who universe, and some of those included Jo Martin (Fugitive Doctor), Katy Manning (Jo Grant), and Annette Badland (Margaret Slitheen). By far, the biggest name guest this year was the Ninth Doctor himself, Christopher Eccleston. The Doctor himself was only able to appear on Saturday, but it was no doubt a memorable appearance for his fans. There were a few last-minute changes to his schedule (likely due to foul weather hitting the Chicago area), which meant combining his two scheduled panels into one panel with Annette Badland, but the room was jam-packed when I walked by.

The convention also offers lots of other content for fans to enjoy – episode and movie screenings, a vendor hall and artist alley, Dalek Alley, photo ops, fan-run panels, Camp Time Lord for junior attendees, a Masquerade and Hallway Cosplay Contest, and much more. A new feature put on by the Costumed Events was a cosplay scavenger hunt that sent participants all around the hotel hunting down cosplays that were out on display. I thought this was a very fun idea and enjoyed seeing the cosplays everywhere you went.
Unfortunately, I was only able to attend for part of the day on Saturday, but I certainly made the most of it and managed to snag a few photos of cosplayers and their cosplays. I hope you enjoy this taste of all there was to offer on Saturday of Chicago TARDIS!
