Awesome Con 2026 was held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, in Washington D.C, from March 13–15. This pop-culture event drew an estimated 60,000 attendees.
This convention was dominated by a monumental Firefly reunion with Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, Jewel Staite, Alan Tudyk, Summer Glau, and Sean Maher. This as a dream come true for many sci-fi fans. The event was highlighted by an announcement of an animated Firefly series that is in the works. Other notable celbrities on site were Gillian Anderson, Ron Perlman, and cast members from Critical Role.

The event is about more than the celebrities. There was a strong Artist Alley which showcased a diverse range of talent from legendary illustrators to rising indie creators. Anime, sci-fi, movies and cartoons shared shelf space at the vendor booths which provided a shopping bonanza for everything from clothing to trinkets.
As expected, the cosplay community brought their A-game to the event. The convention floor was teeming with everything from intricate armor and hand-sewn garments to simple closet cosplays. From the simple to complex everyone was showing off their favorite fandoms and Electro Belton was there to sang some photos for us.
