Anime Boston 2026 ran April 3-5 at the Hynes Convention Center and the Sheraton Boston Hotel. This celebration of Japanese pop culture drew thousands of fans for a weekend of music, and industry insights. The convention started in 2003 and has since grown into a cornerstone of the Northeastern anime convention circuit that has continued to grow since.

On the convention floor there were some obvious changes from previous years, for the first time, Artist Alley spanned both Hall A and Hall B. This was to accommodate the growing number of independent creators and attendee demand for unique commissions.
Programming highlights included the premiere of the BokuYaba (The Dangers in My Heart) film and a highly competitive Cosplay Talent Show. The centerpiece of the weekend was composer Yoko Kanno, who headlined a massive Friday night concert at the Hynes Memorial Auditorium. Other notable guests included the singer Coda, voice actress Kujira, and author Hyuganatsu.
Anime Boston 2027 is slated for May 28–30, and we look forward to seeing where that event goes.
Cosplay at Anime Boston 2026 showcased an extraordinary level of craftsmanship and technical creativity. Attendees displayed their dedication and artistry through the Masquerade, the Cosplay Talent Show, and various organized photoshoots across the venue. We are fortunate to feature the work of photographer Joseph Iacono, whose lens captured some of this year’s stunning cosplays.
