New York Comic Con (NYCC) was held October 8-11, in the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, for it’s 20th anniversary, This was four action packed day that celebrated fandoms of all types.
This milestone year had an expanded layout across Hudson Yards, giving more breathing room to the massive crowds and experiences. Artist Alley, in the lower level, continued to be a massive draw for the event with creators, writers, and independent illustrators showcasing their talents. The Exhibitor Hall featured collecibles, publishers booths and pretty much anything you could think of across all fandoms.
The Empire and Main Stages served up a few reveals and some fantastic panels. Marvel gave us some teasers from the Season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again, VisionQuest, and season 3 of X-Men ’97. The halls were hopping with fans lining up for photo ops and autograph opportunities with guests such as Hayden Christensen, Rosario Dawson, Sebastian Stan, and Nicolas Cage.
As expected, especially for an anniversary year, the cosplay floor was exceptional. NYCC continues to be one of the biggest stages for costuming with everything from basic Halloween costumes and closet cosplays to elaborately expensive and intricate builds. No matter the skill level of cosplay all were welcome at the Cosplay Central where they could find cosplay groups, repair stations, photos backdrops and showcase space.
