Youmacon 2026 is Michigan’s massive, premier annual anime and Japanese pop culture convention, held over Halloween weekend from October 29 to November 1, 2026, at Huntington Place in downtown Detroit, Michigan. Celebrating its official theme, “Spirits & Shadows”, the event blended Japanese animation and gaming culture with high-energy Halloween weekend festivities.
This year the entire event was housed inside Huntington Place, keeping everything under a single roof. The Marketplace and artists Alley were housed in Halls C and D where hundreds of independent creators, merchant vendors, and industry sponsors made it a perfect place to gift shop for the upcoming holiday season. There was a dedicated gaming hall that played host to over 200 arcade cabinets and home console setups set to free-play alongside continuous eSports fighting game brackets, While a dedicated 13,000-square-foot Tabletop Zone provided drop-in gaming tables, learn-to-play sessions, and competitive trading card qualifier events throughout the weekend.
Youmacon brought in an international lineup of voice talent, musical performers, and featured creators. Actors this year included Marina Inoue, Hikaru Midorikawa,, Kaiji Tang, Robbie Daymond, Ray Chase, Anne Yatco, Lex Lang, and Sandy Fox. The main stage hosted performances by NateWantsToBattle, Cybertronic Spree, and DJ FLUFF313, transitioning into late-night raves, open Karaoke, and Idolfest.
As always, Cosplay was a main feature of the event and thanks to Haley Perry, we get to see a small sample of the cosplay in attendance. They took some fantastic photos and this only a small sample of them:
