UChi-Con is a free, one-day anime convention held in Ida Noyes Hall at the University of Chicago. This event is organized and run by the UChicago Japanese Animation Society and is a great opportunity to take and get some cosplay photos.
This is event may be small, but it is popular due to its unique locations. Ida Noyes Hall is a three-story, Neo-Gothic building designed by Shepley, Rutan, and Coolidge and completed in 1916. The gorgeous building features fireplaces, a limestone exterior, intricately plastered ceilings, and elaborate wood paneling, which make for some fantastic cosplay photo shoots. The Harper Memorial Building is reminiscent of a castle and has its own flair.
There are no celebrity guests – they keep the focus on the cosplayers. There is an artist alley, maid cafe, karaoke, gaming room, anime watching, escape room, and a cosplay contest.
There was also a photo booth set-up run by Eddie B. Photos and sponsored by Chicago Cosplay and Photographer Meet-Ups. You can find more photos in the album here.
