Gen Con 2025 took place from July 31 to August 3 in Indianapolis, Indiana. This was a landmark event for the tabletop gaming community, with a record-breaking attendance of nearly 72,000 people, making it the largest tabletop gaming event in North America. This four-day event brought an estimated $82 million for local businesses. Gen Con will return to Indianapolis July 30 to August 2, 2026, and is contracted to return annually through 2030.
Attendees were introduced to hundreds of new games, including High Tide, a cozy two-player stacking game; Blind Jack, which combines trivia with blackjack; and Star Wars: Battle of Hoth, a new twist on the Memoir ’44 series. Major announcements included Renegade Game Studios’ plans for a Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG and a new edition of the popular RPG Masks: A New Generation.

This year the convention also had several issues, many of them are common to this type of event. Overcrowding seems to be the norm for all these events, making the halls difficult to navigate and causing long lines for food and bathrooms. the event also highlighted some supply issues as some publishers couldn’t bring new products due to US tariff uncertainty and shipping delays.
On the cosplay end of things it was all pretty much normal. On Saturday they had the costume parade which snakes through the Indiana Convention Center. They also have a hallway costume contest and the big costume contest.
