The Great Lakes Comic Con (GLCC) was held over the weekend of February 21-23, in Warren, Mi at the Macomb Community College. This is an annual event dedicated to comics, toys, collectibles and general fun. Traditionally the event sponsors children’s literacy and other child-focused charities.
The featured guests for this year include Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Sam J. Jones, best known for his role as Flash Gordon.

The convention was founded 15 years ago by Athens High School social studies teacher Mike DeSantis. This year the event had grown into a full three-day event. Unfortunately this years event did have a bit of a shadow as DeSantis passed away suddenly less than two weeks before the convention. The convention became his memorial and legacy as people celebrated his life and remembered his contributions to the community.
