MEGACON Orlando is taking place from February 6 to February 9, 2025, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. This four-day event is a major gathering for fans of comics, sci-fi, horror, anime, and gaming, attracting over 100,000 attendees annually. With thousands of cosplayers present it is always a great opportunity to get some cosplay photos.
The fourth and final day of CHAOS CON MEGACON. Now that it is over, the complaints are building, but so are the praises.
Please love this even because it gives them a chance to be themselves and hang out with those who have similar interests. It gives them a chance meet up with old friends and find some new. The whole event is an adventure. There are celebrities you’d never thought you’d meet, informational and educational panels, shows and parties, sites to see and shopping. You can’t even dream of doing it all. By the end of the weekend you are so tired and sore that you feel like you are crawling.
Now, on to the bad of the event. It seems that they have the exact same problems every year and never correct them. 90% of the complains have to do with crowding and celebrity interactions.
- Staff were uninformed and in some cases rude.
- Some panels had their rooms changed without notice.
- Some panels were rescheduled without notice.
- Celebrity lines were poorly handled
- Cost of photo op or signing vs how much time you actually spent with the celeb
- Over capacity on escalators and elevators
- Prevalence of vendors with cheap and/or 3-d printed merchandise.
Honestly, these are the same complaints at almost every convention and should be expected. Of course they cause problems, but it’s something to be expected. The only way to avoid these issues it not to go.
