PAX East is a large annual gaming convention held in Boston, Massachusetts. This years event ran May 8-11. This event is part of the PAX (Penny Arcade Expo) series of events that take place several in several places across the globe. PAX started in 2004 in Bellevue, Washington and expanded in 2009 when it was purchased by Reed Entertainment (now ReedPop). The first PAX East event took place in 2010., next years event will be held March 26-29.

With the addition of live streaming PAX East claims to have reached attendance numbers in the hundreds of thousands, which I can believe considering how popular some of the games in attendance were. The show featured a huge expo hall with gaming industry giants, indie developers, tabletop play areas, and gaming tournaments. Elsewhere throughout the convention center there were panel discussions, live concerts, elaborate cosplays, and community meetups.
