The Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) was the weekend of April 11-13 and we were on site to get you some great cosplay photos and talk about the con.
Throughout the day Saturday and the rest of the weekend, just about every where you turned you could see fans engaging with each other. Whether that was in a more formal fashion such as during panels or talking with their favorite celebrities while getting an autograph, or simply passing the time while waiting in line, catching up with friends, making new ones, learning more about the various charity or cosplays groups with booths, or swapping crafting tips with fellow cosplayers, you could see all manner of attendees simply enjoying the company of their fellow nerds. It didn’t matter what background you came from or what differences you had – what was important was that we were among our peers and could celebrate our shared interests and passions.

One of my favorite things about cosplay is is how it can truly bring out a person’s creativity. For some, it’s about furthering their skills or using their inventiveness in crafting a costume and props. For others, it’s more about putting on the costume and being able to inhabit that character. Whatever the reason, that passion was on full display with every cosplayer. Regardless of the level of the costume, they chose that character for a reason – because they had some sort of connection. The Fantastic Four cosplayers I saw throughout the weekend were hyped for the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps later this year, Critical Role cosplayers were enjoying connecting with their fellow Critters, and many Lord of the Rings fans were excited to meet the members in the Fellowship who were in attendance.
