Each year, for three exciting days, Grand Rapids transforms into a hub of creativity and fandom as Comic-Con takes over DeVos Place. Fans from all walks of life don costumes of their favorite characters, and artists showcase their talents through comics, books, movies, and other creative mediums. It’s a place where thousands come together to connect, celebrate, and immerse themselves in the vibrant world of geek culture. This years Grand Rapids Comic Con ran November 15th-17th.
The inaugural event took place on October 12, 2013 as a one-day show with almost 10, 000 attendees In 2014, they expanded to a three-day event held at the DeltaPlex drawing 16,000 attendees. The continued demand saw yet another move in 2015 to DeVos Place, where over 22,000 fans gathered to enjoy an even larger guest lineup and enhanced programming. This show historically has a fantastic guest lineup. This year the guests included Danny Trejo, Carla Perez, Walter Koenig, and the voice cast of Chainsaw Man.
One of big draws of this convention is the cosplay. Attendees come dressed as their favorite characters from comics, movies, TV shows, anime, and video games. The atmosphere is alive with colorful costumes, inventive designs, and shared enthusiasm. Grand Rapids Comic-Con fosters a family-friendly environment, encouraging participants of all ages to join the fun.
