PortConMaine started in 2002 and bill themselves as Maine’s first, longest-running, and largest convention. They are a four-day celebration of geek culture that ran from June 26th through 29th in Portland, Maine. The convention celebrates all things geek including anime, gaming, science fiction, costuming, fantasy, and comics. If you have a hobby or interest, you can probably find someone else here who shares it with you. You might even find a new interest or at least some new friends.

PortConMaines is well-loved by the attendees and vendors. Rather than focus on celebrities, this event chooses to focus on the community. They invite local artists, cosplayers, and charities to participate. Every year they bring in a variety of authors, panelists, cosplay celebrities, voice actors, actors, and game designers. Attendees had the opportunity to meet game designer Ze’ev Shames, voice actor Natalie Rial, voice actor Jack Stansbury, and idol group Teddy Bear Idols.
The only problems with the event were the hotel itself. There were numerous problems with the staff and the rooms, but this is the last year PortConMain will be at this hotel so hopefully next year is better.

The Cosplay Dating Game After Dark (18+) and Cosplay Dance Battle added to the fun, while the Cosplay Masquerade showcased impressive costumes. The Cosplay Dating Game provided witty entertainment, and the intense Cosplay Death Match had the crowd cheering for their favorites.
