Saturday at Dragon Con 2026 is the peak of the event. When everyone comes out to hang out, shop, show off cosplay and of course, get photos.
Friday had a lot of line problems, there were still some Saturday, but not as bad as Thursday and Friday.
The AJC (Atlanta Journal -Constitution) asked about the problems for Thursdays line:
You’re picking up on some things that happened yesterday. But I’m happy to explain it.
We did experience longer wait times at badge pick up than usual caused by couple of interrelated issues. This year, more than any year prior, fans elected to pick up their badges on Thursday, with the peak happening around 3 p.m. About that same time, we had a technology issue that created a slow down in our ability to check in fans and give them their badges. Once we fell behind, it took the rest of the day to catch up. Registration remained open until every fan in line had been able to pick up their badge.
We did work closely with our hotel partners to help address the weather concerns, including routing the lines through additional ballrooms to make space inside the building for more fans. Even so, the lines did extend onto the streets.
Our attendance is capped at 75,000 people each day. We reached that limit yesterday through a combination of mostly 5-day memberships but also a large number of one-day memberships. We expect every day of this year’s convention to welcome 75,000 fans.
We do not expect similar problems today. The technology issues have been addressed and many of the badges have already been issued. Still, we have added water stations to the registration area and along the route outside the hotel.
Despite the crowds and the temperatures there was still time for cosplay, a lot of cosplay.
